I owned and practiced using the Silva Mind Control records, in the 70s. Yes, real 78, LP (long playing), records. Within the last year I purchased the Silva Life System and have found it beneficial in enhancing my ability to access Alpha and Theta states. The CDs guide you through meditations and exercises to enhance learning skills, pain and stress management, sleep quality and more. The Silva Centering Exercise is generously offered for free. It is one of the best tracks I have ever experienced, never failing to induce a deep state of relaxation, even at times when the rapid brain wave cycling of the Beta state seems to have taken me over. I move from entrenched to entranced.
While all four of the above states coexist simultaneously, one state is usually dominant. For me, and I hope for you too, awareness and knowledge of these four brain states increases my motivation to practice meditation, visualization and self-hypnosis consistently.
My Mindfulness/Vipassana teacher, Shinzen Young, used to tell us that meditation is like practicing driving in the parking lot before going out on the freeway. In my therapy practice I use hypnosis as well as mindfulness meditation. Practice results in expanded consciousness so that you can feel the affects of slower brain waves, recreate the feelings with ease, and gain mastery of your conscious and subconscious thoughts and feelings.
The skills you acquire will enhance your relationships to yourself, your loved ones, your work and the world. You will stress less, gain clarity in the decision making process and make better choices. You will learn faster and be a better observer of your own and other people’s behavior. You will increase feelings of happiness in all areas of your life.
